In 2013, the Porter family re-entered the machinery market through the acquisition of United Mattress Machinery, originally founded in 1904. This brought together two powerful legacies: the oldest mattress machinery company in the United States and a family whose experience and influence have defined the industry for decades. United Mattress Machinery is owned by Michael Porter, Michael Porter Jr., and Sam Porter. For decades the Porter’s have been pioneers within the mattress equipment business, having founded and owned Porter International for 50 years and Mike Sr. serving as its CEO for 30 years. Under his leadership, Porter International became the leading company in the mattress machinery industry. He is also the inventor of more than 23 patented specialized machines, many of which helped set industry standards.
Today, Michael Porter, Sr. serves as President and CEO of Sourcing Unlimited (dba Jumpsource), the parent company of United Mattress Machinery. His unmatched experience, technical expertise, and long-standing relationships with key industry players continue to guide the company’s direction and success.
